The Language Archives
Each month, 35-50 Footlights members meet over dinner with playwrights, directors, and scholars to discuss modern drama. We read the plays on our own, meet at inexpensive restaurants near Washington-area metro stations, and eventually attend performances of most of the plays we've discussed. You can attend our dinner-discussions, join our theater trips, or both.
Membership is free. We do ask that you read the plays for discussion in advance. A $5 donation at dinner-discussions to cover expenses is suggested. You pay for dinner and theater tickets. Footlights always gets group rates at local theaters. Contributions to Footlights are tax-deductible.
On Monday, February 20, 6:30 p.m., Footlights will discuss The Language Archives, by Julia Cho. Our guests will be Michael Dove, Jessica Burgess and Mitchell Hébert.
We'll meet at Alfio’s Trattoria, located on the ground floor of the Willoughby Apartments, 4515 Willard Avenue, in Chevy Chase, MD. The restaurant is two blocks from the red line Friendship Heights Metro station. Street parking is limited but valet parking is free. The cost for dinner is only $13 for salad, bread, choice among six entrees, ice cream, and coffee or tea. The price includes tax and tip. We appreciate a $5 contribution to Footlights. Cash or check; no credit cards. Wine, beer, and cocktails are available from the bar. Phyllis Bodin is taking reservations for our dinner-discussion. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the discussion begins at 7:30, ending no later than 9:30. If you have to cancel your dinner reservation please let Phyllis know by noon on February 20 so we have an accurate count for the restaurant.
